This blog has a new location

Hello everyone,

I want to thank you all for following and subscribing to my blog. I need to inform you that my blog has moved to a new location. The new URL is www.christinerice-author.com, and it is now part of a self-hosted website instead of a WordPress.com website. My next post will be published on my “new” blog.

If you subscribed to my blog via email, your email subscription will be forwarded to the new blog, so you will continue to receive email notifications when I publish new posts. If you are following my blog through WordPress.com, you will need to follow my new blog in order to get notified of new posts. To do so, click here and, after making sure you’re signed into WordPress, click “follow” in the upper-left corner of the page.

And that’s it. It just involves re-following my blog at its new location.

I appreciate all of you for reading and commenting on my blog posts for the last one year and eight months. I look forward to providing many more updates on my books, book reviews, and author interviews, and having many more interactions with you in the future.

New book published – Articles for the Mind

I have good news this week too. I compiled a book of all of the articles I have written and published it. It is called Articles for the Mind. It consists of 58 short articles that are informative and sometimes advising, on the subjects of beauty, health, careers, education, family, pets, financial planning, frugal living, money, food, holidays, home, psychology, self-help, values, and writing. The book is grouped into chapters with those subjects as the chapter titles, so the book is easy to navigate and easy to find what you need. There is also a foreword, an afterword, and an about the author page. The cover is below:

It is published on Amazon (Kindle) and Smashwords. Eventually it will be available at Barnes & Noble (Nook), iBookstore, Sony, and Kobo. It will also eventually be published in print and available as a paperback at Amazon. I’m really happy that all of the valuable information in this book is available to the public. I hope the advice and information helps people.

Book updates

I have some exciting news to report. I’ve been spending much more time on my books lately. One week ago, I republished my four books with Kindle Direct Publishing and Smashwords. I worked on the formatting all day for three days to improve the look and readability. I also designed new covers for some.

I also republished my books with CreateSpace as smaller-sized paperbacks with attractive interior and exterior styling. However, the paperbacks are not ready yet. I’ve been making edits to them to make sure they look great, and each edit delays the process by at least a day. Right now I’m waiting to hear back from the CreateSpace staff about the covers, because they did not come out the same as the document I uploaded.

But my ebooks are all set and live at Amazon and Smashwords. In the near future, my books will be available in paperback from Amazon, and at Barnes & Noble (Nook), Apple iBookstore, Sony, and Kobo. Below are pictures of the book covers and links to the books:

The tips are grouped by categories, so the book is well-organized and easy to use. You can choose the tips that are most relevant to you and apply them to your life. By applying tips from each of the categories, you will be able to save substantial money. Some of the categories of tips are: air travel, bills, budget, car, plus many more.

Each tip is resourceful and clever. I learned lots of ideas on how to pinch my pennies and dollars in ways that will help my finances. Best of all, the tips are easy to apply and you don’t have to make drastic changes to save significant money.

Wake up SuccessfulWake Up Successful – How to Increase Your Energy and Achieve Any Goal with a Morning Routine, by S.J. Scott, is a self-help book that helps you create a morning routine that aims for making you successful in whatever it is you wish to do.

The suggestions in this book are best applied if you have time to spare in the morning, but if you don’t, you can adjust your daily schedule so that you can incorporate this 1 1/2 hour routine into your life.

The author says that first thing in the morning is the best time to gain energy for the day and work towards your goals. He suggests doing revitalizing activities for 30 minutes, and then follow that with 30-60 minutes of working on what you have the most passion for and/or what will change your life for the better. He says it’s best to work on only one project at a time in order to be most effective at achieving your goals. Once a goal has been achieved, you can move on to your next goal to accomplish.

The 30 minutes of revitalizing activities will wake you up, get you motivated for the day, and give you energy to tackle your day. The author explains how the activities you usually do in the morning do not increase your energy. He gives examples of energy stimulating activities that you can do instead.

This book gets you thinking about your life – your life purpose, what you want to do with your life, what you want to change about your life, and how you can change your life.

All sorts of things going on

Hi, all. I just want to provide a quick update. I’ve been working on my memoir, Freedom from Fat, and editing my other memoir, Chronicles of a Troubled Girl. Both are far along but still have a bit to go. The first draft of Freedom from Fat is not complete yet. It’s currently up to 46,000 words, but until I’ve reached my weight loss goals, I’ll still be working on it, because it chronicles my weight loss journey. I’m anticipating that I’ll be done with the first draft within one year. But sooner would be great, in more ways than one!

I’m currently on page 59 out of 230 in the editing/proofreading stage of Chronicles of a Troubled Girl, so I’m just about 1/4 through it. I only plan on doing one round of editing, since it is a compilation of journal entries and I want them to be as close to the original writing as possible. The entire memoir is 71,000 words.

Besides working on my books, I also have a freelance career during the week, and I focus on my health and fitness every day. I spend part-time hours working on all three aspects of my life. I like the variety, and they’re all important to me, so I have to manage my time to include them all in my life. I truly love writing books and connecting with my readers, working with my clients to help them with their publishing goals, and working out and eating healthy to have a healthy balance in my life. My weekends are spent relaxing, having fun, and doing housework. It’s quite challenging trying to fit everything in, but it’s the best way to live.

I have some book reviews I’ll be posting this week. One is How to Write an Essay, and the other is Wake up Successful – How to Increase your Energy and Achieve any Goal with a Morning Routine. Both are excellent nonfiction books that I’m looking forward to sharing with you.
